Who is Claudette? This documentary sets out to find an answer. The intersexual Claude/tte grew up both girl and boy in northern Africa. As a teenager, the family returned to Switzerland, where Claude decided to live as a man, with wife and a job as an architect. When this life became too restricting, Claudette took over – a prostitute, and proud of her profession.

Historically, no other occupation has stirred as much controversy as prostitution.
The fascination it awakens has been described for centuries in countless ways, with and without sympathy.
Even the video clip, one of the youngest media in the realm of popular culture, has been a canvas for the idealized representation of "the world’s oldest profession".
Conceived in the last three decades, the music videos in this anthology prove that prostitutes haven’t lost their transgressive aura.

Update Sex Worker University

Unfortunately Luca from The Sex Worker Open University will not be able to join the film festival.
We plan on setting up a live Skype talk with him on Saturday.
A SWOU participant will be present and talk about the University.

Visiting Filmmakers

For the Opening, David Fonjallaz one of the filmmakers of "Lady Mercedes – Getting old as a Prostitute" will present his documentary and will be available for Q&A afterwards.

Later in the evening we are happy to announce that the Canadian filmmaker Jessica MacCormack will show the animation "Where We Were Not – Part One Alexus Story" during the short film programme.

On Saturday afternoon the Honduran LGBT activist and filmmaker Fernando Reyes will be present to answer your questions and talk about the situation in Honduras after the screening of his documentary "En mis Tacones".

Luca, one of the organizers of the the Sex Worker Open University London will present the documentary "SWOU 2011" and talk about the Sex Worker Open University, a collective based in London that is made up of sex workers, former sex workers and allies.

"SWOU 2011" is a 15 minutes long documentary realised during the Sex Worker Open University held in October 2011 in London, UK. During one week, sex workers and allies came together to share their experiences, their knowledge, educating themselves and the public about their working conditions, the effects of stigmatisation and criminalisation, and their struggle to achieve the recognition of sex work as work and for their human and labour rights. With more than 50 workshops, film and performance night, international presentations and public action and around 400 participants, the SWOU 2011 was a succesful event that invigorated the sex workers activists movement in the UK and worldwide! The footages were filmed by several sex workers and allies during the week and edited by SWOU member Stuart Ireson in London.

Happy Hookers

Happy Hookers is an independent documentary exploring the world of male sex workers in Bombay, India – where homosexuality was still criminalised.
